The sitting tenant, at the time of the 1918 sale, was Mr. Herbert Mogg, with the pair of cottages, fronting Kingsmill Road, included in Lot 21, let to William Gould, tenant of Marsh Farm, and T. Brown. In 1918, Mr T.H.Mead purchased the freehold of Halletts Farm and the two cottages, for a sum of £1,925.00d.
The pre-sale tenant, Herbert Mogg, born in 1859, was the eldest of 3 children of Walter and Eliza Mogg. Walter, born at Lydlinch in 1830, is listed in the 1891census as a baker and his wife Eliza, born at Henstridge in 1837, as a shopkeeper, residing in a house, incorporating a shop, fronting Lower Road, on the northern side of the Stalbridge Arms.
Herbert married Kate Rose, born in 1871, in1892. They had 4 children. Herbert and purchased the freehold of their shop and living accommodation, which fronted Lower Road, at the 1918 sale for a sum of £250.00d
Herbert passed away in 1924, aged 64, and Kate in 1928, at the age of 57.
Ownership transferred to John Clarke Goldie in 1921 and, in 1928, to Edwin Thomas Holloway. Alfred Holloway is listed as a farmer at Halletts Farm, in 1935.
Edwin Thomas Frank Holloway, born in 1901, married Dorothy Frizell in 1926. They had 5 children Dennis born in 1928, Stanley in 1932, Sylvia in 1933, Eileen in 1940 and Anthony in 1942.
Alfred Holloway, born in 1903, married Shena Maitland, born in 1908, in 1931. They had six children. Alfred passed away in 1977 at Bath.
By 1939 Arthur E Watts was in residence at Halletts Farm. Arthur, born at New Street Marnhull, in 1905, was the fifth of seven children of Walter and Kate Watts.
Arthur married Bessie Spencer in 1938 and they had one son, Anthony, born in 1942. Arthur remarried in 1951 to Nellie Rouse. They remained at Halletts Farm, moving into a bungalow on his retirement. Arthur passed away in 1979. Arthur was well known local character, and it was a pleasure to meet, and spend time with him, during his retirement years.
