​Lot 65 Grays Farm


The pre-sale tenant of Grays Farm Harry John Shute, born at Church Farm, Marnhull, in 1886, was the second of four children born to Henry, born 1856, died 1910, and Agnes Shute, born 1855 died 1941.
Frances was the 5th of 6 children of Charles, born at Durweston, and Sarah, born at Motcombe. In the 1891 census the family are recorded as living at Culverhouse Farm Motcombe, with Charles as the farmer.
Harry married Frances (nee Ricketts), born in 1886 at Sherborne, in 1911at Motcombe.
In the 1911 census they are recorded as living at Grays Farm. They had three children, John born 1911, Barbara, in 1915 and Hubert in 1916.
Harry Shute purchased the freehold of Grays Farm in 1918 for a sum of £8,150.00d.
Harry passed away in 1928 at the age of 42,
