Bungays Farm
In the 1881 census, Edwin Bugg, aged 56, is listed as the tenant of Bungays Farm, employing three men and a boy, living with his wife Lavinia and Abigail Gulliver, born 1800, widow of the former tenant, Lemuel Gulliver, who had passed away in 1880. Abigail passed away in 1884.
Edwin and Lavinia had married in 1866, when Edwin was 41 and Lavinia 22. In the 1901 census, Lavinia is listed as the tenant and Francis G Sparks as the Farm Baliff. Lavinia passed away in 1915. Merthyr Day too over the tenancy and, in 1918, purchased the freehold for £6,000.00d
Merthyr Day, born in 1877, married Lilian Habershon, born 1880, in 1915. They had daughters Irene born 1915, and Violet 1923 and a son Merthyr born 1917.
Lilian was the eldest daughter, and second of five children, born to Henry and Agnes Habershon at Church Hill Stalbridge.
On his retirement, in 1943, Merthyr Day sold Bungays Farm to Mr Edward Eavis. Merthyr Day passed away in 1949 and Lilian in 1962.
Edward Eavis, born in 1916, married Kathleen Rowland, born 1920, in 1939. They had 3 children, Sydney, born 1940, Norman 1943 and Brenda 1952. Edward passed away in 1964 at the age of 48.
