DEACONS
1781/2 Survey       Lot 377 Robert Drake – the mill yard orchard (also 363, 407)
1811 Survey           Called Trulls Mill (later called Drakes Mill, then Deacons Mill)
1839 Tithe Map     Lot 412 - Water grist mill, dwelling house, barn, yard, garden, orchard
1841 Census           Elias Deacon (1796-1877), yeoman, with wife, Jane (nee Northover), Ann, Birthia, Jane and Sarah
1848                         Elias Deacon had to leave mill (per Irene Jones)
1851 Census           Elias is a lime burner living at Stourton Caundle 
1861 Census           Charles Stokes Ag Lab (b 1820 Stourton Caundle) and wife Rhoda (nee Brown) with 6 children
1879                        Charles Stokes, of Deacon's Mill, Stalbridge, died suddenly on Thursday. He had been speaking to his wife                                   outside the house, when he suddenly fell, and expired immediately.  Verdict “Died by the visitation of                                         God” Aged 62
1881 Census          Mill – Samuel Blake (26) Agricultural Worker with wife, Eliza (25) and son, John (2)
1891 Census          Courts Mill – Samuel now listed as a farmer with Eliza and 3 more children
1898                        Samuel dies aged 44
1901-11 Census     Eliza continues to farm from Deacons Mill

​1918 Sale               Tenant Mrs E Blake 3acres Lot 44a – bought by G E Prideaux for £170
1923                         Dispute over the sale of cows
1939 Register         Ernest Henry Frizzle and wife Nellie Winifred Alice
                                 On November 16th. 1947, at Poolestown, Stalbridge. Ann Blake, ' widow of the late Samuel Blake, of                                               Deacon's Mill Farm, Stalbridge passed peacefully away aged 91 years.
