Anvil House, Ring Street, Stalbridge
Personal details:
Albert Charles Jeans, born in 1878, had an older sister Mary Louisa, and two older brothers Christopher and George. Christopher is the Grandfather of Christopher and Geoffrey Jeans, both of whom still live in Stalbridge. Father ran the family blacksmiths business in which all the sons were employed. We have no personal military records for Albert and therefore do not know when he enlisted. He is likely to have been with the Dorsetshire Regiment a very short time before being transferred to the Oxford and Bucks Light Infantry. As he did not qualify for the 1914-1915 Star he did not see service in a theatre of war before 1916
